4A Preview: Wings Watchlist
BY:Trey Sterner

4A will be a fun class to track this year with a deep talent pool. Read below about some of the top Wings to keep an eye out for coming into this Varsity Season.

Trevan Krumrei | 2024 | 6’5 | CR Kennedy

Krumrei was playing impressive basketball this offseason both with Kingdom Hoops on the EYCL Circuit and Kennedy in high school play. The wing’s biggest assets are his excellent shooting ability and athleticism. He stretches the floor from deep at a high level and can also explode for impressive finishes at the rim. An involved rebounder too, Krumrei should have increased production and a chance at some serious college looks this year. Continuing to add physicality going to the rim and locking in off the ball defensively to use his athleticism to his advantage can help him to add another dimension to his game.

Aidan Harder | 2024 | 6’2 | Norwalk

Harder brings a big impact to both ends of the floor for Norwalk. He’s crafty on the offensive end, able to thrive as a passer, scorer in the paint, or perimeter shooter. On the other end, his quick hands, anticipation, off ball positioning, and overall ability to get deflections and steals make a huge difference for his team. His versatility and positive playmaking on both ends should help Norwalk make another run at state.

Caden Wilkins | 2024 | 6’7 | Bettendorf

Wilkins is one of the highest potential players in the state, particularly on the offensive end. He’s a smooth shooter, elite midrange scorer, handles the ball at a high level, passes well, and can use his length and athleticism to score at the rim. Defensively, he’s an underrated shot blocker, plays with effort, and was a near double digit rebounder per game.

Lio Aguirre | 2024 | 6’3 | Ankeny

Aguirre returns for Ankeny as one of their leaders in a number of categories. He’s very good downhill to the rim. Able to use his strength, crafty footwork, and good touch, Aguirre creates paint touches frequently and finishes them well. Additionally in the half court, Aguirre provides a floor spacing threat with a capable three-point shot. Where he is at his best is attacking the defense before they get set or when closeouts come his way. Adding efficiency will be an area to watch for this year from Aguirre.

Kavon Phillips | 2024 | 6’7 | North Scott

Phillips holds two Division Two offers from Truman State and Augustana following a strong junior year and grassroots season with the Barnstormers. His versatility on both ends of the floor are his biggest strength. Defensively, his effort stands out each game and he can succeed defending multiple positions. His length, speed, vertical athleticism, and lateral agility help him get stops on and off the ball, as well as succeed on the boards. Offensively, the wing keeps adding aggression as a scorer, shoots it well, finishes strong at the rim, and displays impressive passing vision.

Brennan Reid | 2024 | 6’6 | North Scott

Reid was a huge stock riser over the summer, adding offers from Northwestern College, Rock Valley, and Buena Vista following standout play with the Barnstormers. His size, smooth shooting, high percentages, and ability to make a difference defensively and as a rebounder make him an intriguing prospect. I expect a very good season and a good possibility of continued college interest from him this season.

Jaden Rogers | 2024 | 6’5 | Waukee

Rogers has a very high ceiling and will be a player to watch for big improvements in 23-24. His athleticism, lock down defensive ability, multi-level scoring, and above the rim finishing help him to catch eyes. A legit lob threat, capable creator off the bounce, and multi-positional defender, there is a lot to like about his game. The consistency he showed over the Summer with EYCL should set him up for a great senior year and has already helped him earn an offer from Missouri S&T.

Jalen Richardson | 2025 | 6’5 | Johnston

Richardson had a big offseason, proving himself as a highly competitive prospect that can succeed at elite levels. Skilled, strong, athletic, and high motor in every area of the game, Richardson will be a force to be reckoned with this year. The scoring, passing, transition impact, and defensive effect that Richardson have all make him a well-rounded player and someone that can help his Johnston team win a high number of games this year.

Davante Bradford | 2024 | 6’3 | Davenport West

Bradford was one of the more exciting playmakers on the NXT League over the summer. He passes the ball with uncanny vision, scores well off the dribble, and shoots it efficiently from range. The offensive impact in addition to his quick hands and strength on the defensive end make him a well-rounded player and a top returner for this season.

Brevin Phillips | 2024 | 6’5 | Urbandale

Phillips is someone you should keep a close eye on heading into this year with Urbandale. An excellent athlete, capable multi-level scorer, strong handler, and exciting above the rim finisher, Phillips is a multi-dimensional offensive talent. Very good on the boards and in transition as well, Phillips helps his team in a number of ways and should be someone that colleges should look seriously at.
