Weekend Notes from OKC
Levi Peck 2024 Forward | H&H 2024
Peck is one of my favorite glue guys to watch and it never seems like he takes games off. Everyone knows he can rebound well but also does the small things like simply running to the rim every time someone shoots the ball to get rebounds. Considering no one in grassroots basketball finds someone from the perimeter and boxes them out so Peck takes full advantage of it.
Carson Jones 2024 Guard | H&H 2024
Jones is an interesting prospect standing as a 6’2 point guard and has an extremely long wingspan. On top of his physical intangibles, he showed that he can be a very good shot maker hitting tough fadeaway shots with a hand in his face. I love the way he takes smaller guards into the mid-post and uses his craftiness for fadeaways or a move to the rim. He has been a stock riser this summer for H&H and I’m excited to see him pair up with 2024 stud Luke Gray in the high school season.
Avrey Payne 2023 Guard | H&H 17U
Payne is probably one of the tallest true point guards in the 2023 class and he fits that modern combo guard mold that basketball is starting to lean towards. Payne’s high IQ and unique skill set allowed him to manipulate defenders all weekend long. With him being taller than a typical point guard he understands to just get to his spot and either pull up or shoot mini floaters.
Jaeden Eddens 2022 Forward | Ok Wolfpack 17U
Eddens was really good this weekend using his athleticism and long strides to his advantage. The long athlete can get up the court in 2-3 dribbles and make plays at the rim. He also had some nice dunks whenever he caught dump-off passes from his guards.
Jack Wilson 2023 Forward | Mokan Select 17U
Wilson was a monster this weekend bringing a nasty attitude to the team and setting the tone as well. He plays with certain aggression that wasn’t matched all weekend and he simply dominated on the glass which resulted in points. If any colleges are looking for a tough forward then they should look his way.
Garrett Redwine 2023 Guard | Ok Wolfpack 17U
Redwine was unconscious from the three-point line Saturday when I watched him play. If you are even less than a second late on closing out then he will make you pay for it. He plays along some great downhill drivers that feed him the ball all game long and Redwine rewards them back by knocking them down.
Rylen Sykes 2027 Guard | Ok Wolfpack 13U
Sykes is a player I have been watching for a few years now and every time I see him he polishes up his game even more. At a younger age, he was known for athleticism but the game is slowing down for him and he is starting to make better decisions on the floor. I even saw him in warmups try to dunk the ball so that kind of gives you an idea of how athletic he is. Sykes dominated over the weekend getting downhill and playing the passing lanes.
