Class 2A State Championship Notes
Dayton Forsythe | Dale | Guard | 2024
Forsythe is one of my favorite ’24s I saw this season – and I mean nationally. This kid is as competitive as they come. Self-motivated and, just a hunch here, is a “hates losing more then he likes winning” type. I’m sure some will knock it as “he’s at a 2A school” and I don’t care. This kid is innately talented. 32/12/6 and 7 fouls drawn in the opener. XX points tonight in the State Title. Physical, crafty athlete, skilled – tremendous feel, three-level scorer, creator, facilitator. Controlled explosiveness and a playmaker in all facets. He has big-time potential and will be one for major programs to watch this summer.
Jonah Jenkins | Cashion | Guard | 2022
Jenkins is an intelligent scoring guard who, I believe, has earned a shot as a point guard at the next level. He’s crafty, has great feel, ball on a string, and has a variety of finishes at the rim. I really like his smooth, pull up jumper as well, with which he can create from deep. Confident in his ability to facilitate, he understand when to share as well as force the issue. I love his BbIQ and overall feel for the game as well. Also has a 4.1 GPA – will be a nice addition for a program next year. Come get him!
Landon LaGasse | Cashion | Wing | 2022
LaGasse is a flamethrower and deserves a shot at a small college as a floor-stretching two. He has a good frame and length, and has good shot versatility on the perimeter. On defense, he communicates well and is disciplined in his rotations, often willing to meet you at the rim. Tough rebounder and can handle the ball in spurts but projects as a shooter. Has played well throughout this State Tournament and I believe he deserves a shot.
Deken Jones | Dale | Wing | 2024
Jones was out to a roaring start in this one, knocking down a huge triple at the Q1 buzzer sounded. He scored well in this one and was active on the glass on both ends. He’s a glue guy to the max – today he was on the floor multiple times as he gathered offensive boards and got to the FT line. Being a sophomore, I believe he has to skill set and mentality to develop into a next level player.
Vance Raney | Cashion | Guard | 2022
Raney is a strong defender, especially on the ball. He’s often asked to defend the opposing team’s best player and is up to the task. He’s also a capable shooter which is where he provides the value on offense. He’s an average on-ball creator, but his impact as a shooter and on defense are special. Deserving of a shot at the small college level as he can project a defensive specialist with development.
Easton Edmonson | Dale | Guard | 2025
The ultimate glue-guy, Edmonson is a coach’s dream. High motor, great feel, intelligent, will do the dirty work – and he’s only a freshman. Although undersized, he plays bigger than he is with great vision and a knack for being ‘right place right time’ on defense and is solid on the ball . Hit a big spot up three to get the scoring started in this one. 2Will be a fun one to track as he grows and develops.
Austin Frazier | Cashion | Guard | 2022
Frazier is another guy that coaches would love to have on the roster – will do anything for a win. He’s a reliable on and off-ball defender, spot up shooter, and tonight showed again that he can get his own bucket when needed. All effort, no quit. Enjoy Frazier’s game.
