Day 1 of NXTPRO Gainesville brought elite competition to the Alachua County Sports & Events Center, with some of the top youth programs in the country trading blows. The platform that produces tons of college offers every year did not disappoint in night one. When the level is this high, the players who take over separate themselves fast. From three different flavors of frontcourt dominance to a lights-out shooter and a point guard who touched every part of the game, here are the five prospects who left the biggest impression on Day 1.
Jadus Sohriando
Class of 2027 | [Position — C] · 6’8 · XPC ELITE 17U
Nobody imposed their will inside like Jadus Sohriando. A physical, back-to-the-basket force, he owned the paint on both ends finishing through contact, sealing deep for easy buckets, and protecting the rim as the last line of defense. Anything at the cup was a challenge, and his motor on the glass gave his team extra possessions all day. His footwork in the post is advanced for his class, and as he continues to expand his range, his ceiling only climbs. College coaches looking for a true interior anchor got plenty to write down.
Mario Marovic
Class of 2027 | [Position — PF/C] · 6’10 · A1 17U
A different kind of frontcourt problem,Marovic stretched defenses and made the modern big-man skill set look easy. He knocked down face-up jumpers, put the ball on the floor in space, and made smart reads out of the high post the kind of versatility that gives defenses fits. His ability to score inside and step out to the perimeter makes him a matchup nightmare, and his feel for the game stood out every possession. Programs building around a five-out or stretch-four look should have his name circled.
Charles Parker III
Class of 2029 | [Position — F/C] · 6’6 · Xtreme Pressure 15U
Pure energy in the frontcourt. Parker III outworked everyone around the rim, running the floor in transition, finishing lobs, crashing the offensive glass, and turning effort plays into momentum swings. He rebounds outside his area, defends multiple actions, and brings the kind of relentless motor that changes the tone of a game. The tools are there and the effort never dips, which makes him exactly the type of glue big that translates to the next level. Coaches love players who impact winning without needing the ball, and he does just that.
Chris Villanueva
Class of 2029 | [Position — SG] · 6’2 · Miami Storm 15U
If there was an open look, Chris Villanueva made you pay. One of the purest shooters at the event, he stretched defenses with deep range, a quick release, and the confidence to let it fly off the catch or off the bounce. His gravity opened up the floor for everyone around him defenders couldn’t help off him, and that spacing changed how teams had to guard. He drew a couple of fouls late in the game using his gravity that led to an OT win for Miami Storm. The efficiency was there to match the volume. That kind of shot-making travels to any level, and he made a strong case as one of the best perimeter scorers on the floor Day 1.
Tyson Jefferson
Class of 2027 | [Position — PG] · 6’3 · A1 Elite 17U
Every winning team needs a lead guard who controls everything, and Jefferson affected every facet of the game. He set the tempo, made the right read every time down, and picked his spots to score. His fingerprints were all over the possessions he didn’t finish. He pushed in transition, set up teammates for easy looks, defended at the point of attack, and made the hustle plays that don’t always show in the box score. A true point guard with a high IQ and poise beyond his years, he made everyone around him better. Coaches will love how he raises the level of an entire lineup.
Day 1 set a high bar, and each of these five prospects showed a skill set that translates to the next level. Whether it was interior dominance, elite shooting, or all-around floor generalship, these are the names worth tracking as NXTPRO Gainesville rolls on. More standouts to come as the weekend continues.
