Jayvon Burmeister — 6″3 Guard/Forward — Class of 2027 — Muskegon Heat 17U/Muskegon High School (MI)

Jayvon Burmeister is the first player I’ve come across the AAU circuit to have the confidence to say that he can play any position, 1-5. And I believe him. On a team full of athletes, he might have stood out the most. His size gave him a great advantage when being defended by guards because he was just too long for anyone to stop him. And when it came to going against any bigs, his quickness was no match for whoever tried to stay in front of him. Jayvon has the great wingspan, great shooting touch and an extremely high motor. I couldn’t keep up with him racing up and down the court during his team’s blowout victory. A pure athlete he is which is why I can rock with him saying that he can play any position on the court.

Demetrio Dockery — 5″10 Point Guard — Class of 2028 — Muskegon Heat 17U/Muskegon High School (MI)

Stop the presses because “D-Bo” is coming!! Not the real D-Bo from the movie Friday but Demetrio “D-Bo” Dockery from these Michigan streets. A stocky 5″10 point guard who loves to get physical and take on contact. When you have a built point guard of his stature, it’s not surprising that he brings the majority of his physicality on that end of the floor. But offensively, he not only will play “bully ball” with any one trying to guard him but he has great court vision to find his open teammates. D-Bo is a grown man in a 16-year old body and it is going to be scary to see how his game and his body develops before his high school career comes to an end. Swoop this kid up with a D1 offer before it’s too late! Thank me later, coaches!

Kaloni Wheeler — 6″6 Forward/Center — Class of 2028 — Muskegon Heat 17U/Muskegon High School (MI)

Listen, I was thrown off when I asked Kaloni Wheeler after his team’s dominating performance what his natural position was and he told me the forward/center spot. I say that because Kaloni had pure guard skills to go with that 6″6 frame and he could run the court like a deer. He was aggressive at going to the cup every time and I saw a pure ability to create for his teammates. He admitted to me afterwards that it is something that he has really been working on to be more cognizant of his teammates around him and not playing just for himself. Well, he did that to a tee in this matchup and when he can shoot, pass and dribble the way he displayed in this particular game, his options are going to multiply by an infinite number by the time he gets to his final year in high school.

Demekian Monroe — 6″0 Shooting Guard — Class of 2027 — Muskegon Heat 17U/Muskegon High School (MI)

Of all of the athletic talent that showed itself from this Muskegon Heat team, Demekian Monroe looked to be the leader of this phenomenal group of players. He was the floor general for sure even from the shooting guard position. He just had this aura around him that he was the leader and it fits him well. He admitted to me that he didn’t have the best shooting performance but he definitely fooled me because I thought he was knocking down nearly every shot he threw up. He was great in transition, he was great in leading the offense and he showed off that identity on the defensive end as well. He was a great distributor as well when he felt like his shot was getting cold and his teammates were there to follow his lead. If you have a Demekian Monroe on your roster in a tight game, have no fear because he’ll make sure to make the right decision to put his team in position for the victory.

Johnny Epps III — 6″5 Forward/Center — Class of 2028 — Rising Sunz 16U/Huron High School (MI)

This 6″5 big man is extremely nimble on his feet. He’s got the size to bulldoze through defenders and get to the rim whenever he feels the need. He loves to go downhill and he’s extremely quick on his feet. Don’t be surprised, however, when he forces his way into the paint only to dish it off to an open teammate on the perimeter. He loves his ability to pass as a big fella while displaying his trust in his teammates. He considers himself a playmaker at his position. The potential on this kid is through the roof.
