Top Performers from the WF Advisors Shootout
Saturday’s games at the WF Advisors Shootout featured 7 games with a lot of great players. In the day’s games, teams’ leaders consistently stepped up for big games to give their team a chance to win. Among the top performers were a handful of talented unsigned 2023 players, a duo of 2024 rising stars, and one of the top 2025 players in the state.
Durant
Nolan DeLong | 2023 | 6’1 | G | @NolanDelong
Game Stats: 26 pts 5 reb 2 ast 1 stl 100% (5-5) 3PT 62.5% (10-16) FG 100% (1-1) FT
DeLong was on fire in the first game of the day, unaffected by the early tip-off. He was perfect from three and got a lot of great looks at the rim. DeLong found opening cutters or shooters when he saw too much help defense, got to the hoop as a cutter, had it going on pull ups, and knocked down 5 threes in his 26-point performance. Along with his scoring, DeLong’s athleticism helped to shut down Mediapolis’ offense and make an impact on the boards.

Garrett Hollenback | 2023 | 6’2 | W | @G_Hollenback
Game Stats: 10 pts 9 ast 7 reb 5 blk 1 stl 40% (4-10) FG 100% (2-2) FT
Hollenback seemed to be all over the place in Durant’s win over Mediapolis. On defense, on the boards, as a passer, finishing in the paint, and blocking shots, Hollenback did a bit of everything. He has some great bounce, vision as a passer, and runs the floor really well. Approaching a triple-double in this one, Hollenback really impressed me in the first game I have been able to watch him live.

Dunkerton
Preston Gillespie | 2023 | 6’3 | W | @preston123g
Game Stats: 24 pts 15 reb 5 ast 3 stl 50% (8-16) FG 61.5% (8-13) FT
Missing the other half of his dynamic duo, Gillespie stepped up big to help lead Dunkerton to a hard-fought victory. Without fellow senior Casey Gardner, it was no secret to the defense that Gillespie was going to be Dunkerton’s main option. Even with this being obvious, and help defense all over him, Gillespie was still able to go off for 24 and help create shots for teammates. His ability to maneuver in the paint with footwork and body control is elite, and he finishes with strength and athleticism. In the win, the wing also dominated the boards and drew important fouls on the opposition. The grit Gillespie showed in this game is really admirable.

Alburnett
Jordan Caton | 2024 | 5’9 | G | @JordanCaton30
Game Stats: 15 pts 5 ast 3 stl 1 reb 57.1% (4-7) 3PT 50% (5-10) FG
Caton, along with a number of his teammates, came out of the gates red hot against Cascade. He had four threes in Saturday’s big win over Cascade. The guard does a very good job of sprinting the floor or cutting hard to find his spots and get open looks. Not only is he a great three-point shooter, Caton plays very good on-ball defense, helping to force turnovers and play to his strength operating in transition.

Braydon Osborn | 6’3 | W | @BraydonOsborn5
Game Stats: 15 pts 12 reb 3 ast 1 stl 28.6% 3PT (2-7) 37.5% (6-16) FG
Osborn didn’t have his best game shooting the ball but was still one of 4 Pirates to hit multiple threes in a in against Cascade. He’s a great athlete that makes plays in every part of the game. A versatile two-way player, Osborn adds a threat to this team in half-court offense, transition, defensively, on the boards, and as a passer. With his teammate Caton, Osborn thrives pressuring on defense and finding good looks in transition.
Linn Mar
Davis Kern | 2025 | F | 6’8 | @DavisKern22
Game Stats: 17 pts 6 reb 2 ast 1 blk 50% (1-2) 3PT 50% (4-8) FG 89% (8-9) FT
Kern has UNI and South Dakota State offers, with a lot more interest. He was big time, especially down the stretch for Linn Mar in their win over Prairie. In the win, he Kern displayed efficiency, strong finishing through contact, creative moves around the rim, and knockdown shooting as usual. As his strength in the post continues to develop, Kern will keep making a case as one of the top players in the 2025 class.

Ian Mindrup | 2023 | 6’5 | F | @ian_mindrup
Game Stats: 10 pts 7 reb 1 ast 2 stl 83% (5-6) FG
Mindrup has an offer from Dubuque for next year. He is a fun player to watch that plays with great intensity and effort. He’s clearly a leader for this team and is a steady interior presence on both ends of the floor. One of his greatest strengths is his midrange jumper. The forward does a great job of knocking shots down in that area facing up or getting dump offs from teammates. A strong rebounder, defender, and high percentage scorer on offense, Mindrup plays a huge part of this team.

CR Prairie
Jack Wagemester | 2023 | 6’2 | G | @JackWagemester
Game Stats: 13 pts (full stats not available)
Season Stats: 8.1 ppg 3.3 rpg 3.2 apg 1.1 spg 22.6% 3PT 35.2% eFG 80.9% FT
Although they ended up coming up short, Wagemester did what he could to help keep Prairie in a position to win. Wagemester’s decision making in half-court offense was apparent in Saturday’s game. His passing was very impressive, helping create easy looks for his teammates. Also, a capable three-point shooter, and good perimeter defender, Wagemester does a lot of positive things for this Prairie team.

Lucas Lueth | 2023 | 6’7 | W | @LucasLueth
Season Stats: 11 ppg 5.9 rpg 1.6 apg 3.4 bpg 31% 3PT 54.9% eFG 84% FT
Lueth is one of the top available 2023 players, currently with an offer from DII Truman State. His defense is at an elite level, reflected in the 31 points scored by Pleasant Valley in this game. Lueth is a lengthy, athletic presence in the paint and on the perimeter defensively. On offense, his three-point shot keeps getting better, and in this one he was able to create some clutch buckets for his team off the bounce.

Iowa City Liberty
Da’Shon Fisher | 2023 | 6’2 | G | @DaShon_Fisher
Game Stats: 23 pts 3 reb 3 ast 1 stl 100% (2-2) 3PT 100% (9-9) FG 100% (2-2) FT
Fisher currently has offers from Rock Valley and DMACC. The guard boosted his team to a big win in the final game of the day, converting on every shot he took. Against Fairfield, Fisher not only was attacking the rim effectively with athletic finishes, but also had the three-point shot rolling. I’m continually impressed by his explosion and creativity when he gets to the paint. There aren’t many, if any defenders, that can keep him from getting to the hoop 1 on 1. He has offers from Rock Valley and DMACC
