I was able to tune into Pro Insight’s Pop-Up Run this weekend at Parkrose High School in Portland, OR. There were a good number of interesting players from across the pacific northwest in attendance, spread across four teams. These were the names that stood out the most.
Jaden Ghoreishi | Mt. Spokane | 2026 | Forward | 6’8
Ghoreishi was my MVP of the day, using his size and skillset to dominate on both ends of the floor. Nobody could get between him and the rim when the ball was in his hands, plowed through defenders and absorbed contact without issue, and showcased his scoring touch in the paint. Controlled the paint as a rebounder and rim protector on defense, was able to push the ball up the floor himself in transition and made a handful of interesting reads in transition. Very fluid mover for his size and a strong frame, committed to Colorado State.
Marco Varani | Moravian Prep | 2026 | Wing | 6’8
Mostly operated as an off ball player early on, but managed to showcase his overall skillset more as the day went on. Has a super long and wiry frame, used it to set screens and score around the basket, was also able to connect on tough jumpers off the catch and dribble from the perimeter. Has a smooth handle, used screens well to create separation before pulling up, was tough for most defenders to contest his release point. Hit a couple from beyond the high school three point line.
Ryan Rohrbacher | Bainbridge | 2028 | Wing | 6’5
Rohrbacher had the best shooting performance of anyone in the gym, scoring from all over the floor and getting to his shot in a variety of ways. Was aggressive in both transition and halfcourt settings, finished with touch on floaters and through contact on an and one, got into the paint as both a driver and cutter. Was very active without the ball, flew around screens and hit shots both from three and in the midrange. Has a pretty quick release off the catch and looked comfortable getting to his shot off the dribble.
Braylon Gaines | Nelson | 2027 | Guard | 5’11
Gaines came out of the gates aggressive in the first game, pushing the tempo and making plays as both a scorer and passer. Looked good in transition throughout the day finding teammates ahead of him with passes, was also effective in pick n roll as the ballhandler. Got downhill as a driver and played well through contact, was able to set up defenders and get by them as a cutter on a few possessions as well. Was one of the most consistent producers and got a lot out of his teammates.
Ethan Harris | Camas | 2026 | Forward | 6’8
Harris wasn’t on fire as a shooter in the early games, but showcased enough of his on-ball skill in combination with his size and physical tools to be an easy standout. Started the day with a lob flush, was able to consistently make things happen in transition and looked comfortable pushing the ball up the floor himself. Was able to change directions as a ballhandler and get into the paint as a driver, where he used his strength, footwork, and touch to work defenders. Committed to Iowa.
Carter Lockhart | Nelson | 2028 | Guard | 6’1
Lockhart’s skill with the ball as a shot creator shined throughout the day, especially as one of the younger players in the group. Has deep range as a shooter and hit a couple of shots out beyond the high school line, was also able to work his way into the midrange and create separation from defenders for pullups. Used his body well as a driver, forced the issue and took some shots that were forced at times, but he wasn’t the only one doing that in this setting. The process to get to his shots was mostly very intriguing.
Brian Webster | O’Dea | 2026 | Guard | 6’3
Webster’s quickness with the ball and energy as an off-ball player made him one of the more effective offensive players throughout the day. Was able to get by defenders consistently with his first step and made quick decisions with the ball when he got inside, whether it was a move to get right to the rim or a dump off pass to a big. Has real touch inside and hit a couple shots from the perimeter, was also able to sneak inside for a couple of offensive rebounds and putbacks.
Muhammed Carter | Ida B. Wells | 2027 | Forward | 6’7
One of the best interior scorers of the day thanks to his size and physicality in the paint. Made strong moves to the rim and never shied away from contact, went into whoever was in front of him and proved to have good hands, both catching passes and maintaining control of the ball through contact. I liked his activity on the offensive glass as well and he made his presence felt as a rim protector, would be interested to see what he does with more reps outside of the paint.
